Our expansion to Liberia is the result of another partnership. The idea for the collaboration between Open Field and Kpoma Women is in response to outcomes from the inaugural trip to Liberia by Kpoma Women founders in 2019. Findings from their research, particularly with respect to youth in the community, pointed in one direction: soccer as means to engage youth and provide positive activities and experiences. Open Field’s experience implementing sport-based youth development programs in Cameroon, Africa over the last decade, with a headquarters in Pittsburgh (where Kpoma is also based), seemed to be the perfect partner. The objective of this collaboration is to create a sustainable partnership that realizes a shared vision to improve the lives and futures of youth. Our 2021-2022 goals include: 1. Launch programming in December 2021 2. Host a service-learning immersion trip in Summer 2022 3. Lay the foundation for sustainable programs that educate and empower youth in Bong County
