IDSDP
Did you know that sport is used to empower girls across the world – from Brazil to India? Did you know that over 270 million youth play soccer around the world? The United Nations recognizes sport as a powerful tool to improve lives across the world. Three years ago, they created the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP), which is celebrated on Wednesday April 6th, 2016.
This global movement provides many service learning opportunities for individuals and groups to celebrate. When participating in these projects, individuals are exposed to global issues and gain valuable entrepreneurship skills, social responsibility, global consciousness, and other practical knowledge. They also get to know another part of the world they might not be familiar with.
CameroonFDP has supported schools, soccer teams, and individuals in various projects highlighting our work using the game of soccer to improve lives in Cameroon. We’ve celebrated in Pittsburgh for the last two years with some different projects involving soccer and other service activities. If you have any ideas about you can get involved, we’d love to help make it happen.
