Wallace, Director of Youth Enrichment League Expansion, and Caroline, Director of Impact Evaluation, recently traveled to Mamfe in the Southwest Region of Cameroon to facilitate our first coaching clinic of 2016. Seven coaches attended and participated in three full days of coaching seminars. CameroonFDP learned these seminar methods and activities through Coaches Across Continents (CAC), an online certificate course. Caroline was the only female coach from CAC’s global network of coaches to graduate in 2015 from this course.
Our coaches’ training included classroom activities with discussions on how to incorporate educational messages into the game. They also discussed how to be an effective role model and mentor to players. The training then included field activities such as games from CAC, which teach educational messages and technical football drills. This coaching clinic was very successful and we look forward to seeing the coaches use their new skills in the upcoming Youth League.
