Jarod Clayton Rogers, a student at the University of Pittsburgh’s Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, interned with CameroonFDP after being introduced to the organization at a Peace Corps event. Before coming to Pitt, Jarod was a Peace Corps Response volunteer in Guyana and a small business Peace Corps volunteer in Mali. He met Justin Forzano while speaking at a Peace Corps event where he presented his qualitative and quantitative data collection efforts in Guyana. Justin approached him with some ideas about evaluating CameroonFDP’s field operations and after discussing it a few more times, they designed a summer project in Cameroon.
While in Cameroon, Jarod collected qualitative data from program officers, the board of directors, and coaches from three cities, which totaled over 40 reports. The purpose of these sessions were to evaluate the operations of the organization and give key stakeholders a voice in the organization, which is tremendously important for a locally-based organization. This internship with CameroonFDP allowed Jarod to apply his knowledge from the Peace Corps and also develop new skills and knowledge.
Are you interested in interning with CameroonFDP? We currently have internships in our Pittsburgh office for summer and fall 2016! Please email justin@cameroonfdp.org for more information.
